Four months old...and growing!

This mama is officially on summer vacation and can finally love on the little men in her lives. While my new job has been amazing, it feels great to turn off the brain...and the computer...and just enjoy my little family. Andrew has been such a great big brother to our Austin! He loves greeting him in the morning with his sweet raspy voice "Mornin' Austin!" and words cannot describe the smile that Austin gives to him. It absolutely melts my heart! I can't believe the brotherly love that exists already between these two.
At four months old and just about 14 pounds, Austin is a growing boy! He is such a sweet boy and LOVES the ladies! Man this kid knows how to flirt already! And uh, what I would do for that boy's eye lashes! Between his baby blues, long lashes, and that sweet, darling grin, I fear I am going to be in so much trouble.

So far, Austin:
* is doing better with tummy time, especially now that he is figuring out how to roll over.
* is STRONG! He loves to pull himself up from laying flat on his back and holding onto our hands. From here, he flexes his legs and goes right into a standing position. He prefers to stand over sitting.
* is giving mommy much delight with his ADORABLE baby squeals. They are just too dang cute!
* loves bath time
* is VERY chatty (For the life of me, I cannot figure out why he is so chatty or where he gets it from....)

Happy four month birthday my handsome boy!!

Stay tuned as we will officially be starting solid foods this week. Rice cereal is the first item on the menu and if he gives us the same entertainment that Andrew did, we are all in for a real treat!

Baby in a Bucket

I couldn't handle his cuteness so I had to share.

Behold, a baby in a bucket!

Morning fun

Often times during the early morning hours, when Andrew and Kyle are still asleep, Austin and I get to have some mommy and me time. And because I am super obsessed with his cuteness, I can't help but take a million pictures of him. These were from today's morning photo shoot and were too fun not to share!

Three months old...already!

I can't believe that our little man is already three months old!! The time is just flying by. And boy have we been busy! When we had Andrew, we were literally housebound for what seemed like an eternity. We were first time parents and going out in public was a scary thing. I, in particular, was worried about "what will people think if my baby cries?" "did I pack everything I need?" "why is he crying...what am I doing wrong?" I was a mess until I learned that hey, babies cry! It's okay! And if I look a little out of sorts, well, if you have ever had a toddler and a newborn, you know that it comes with the territory. So alas, I have accepted that it is what it is. And truthfully, life has been so much easier going out and about and the days don't seem as long.

So with this being said, we have been busy being busy. Just in this month alone, Austin has:
* Gone to Disneyland
* Gone to Sea World...twice
* Traveled up to northern California in Amador City for the Murphy wedding (and he did AH-MAZ-ING on the car ride up there and was quite a hit at the wedding too!)
* Been camping...twice
* Was the youngest state testing assistant in history (have I mentioned how much I LOVE my job!)

What he loves:
* Being chatty (I have NO IDEA where he got this from)
* Having his feet rubbed
* Cuddling with his big brother
* Smiling!! He is such a happy baby!
* Morning naps

What he dislikes:
* Tummy Time (dislike may be a bit of an understatement...he HATES it!)
* His car seat
* Bottles (we are attempting to bottle train him so that I can attend my meetings without always having him in tow and it is NOT going well! He just looks at Kyle like who are you fooling? Followed by a full blown melt down!)
* Teething- I cannot believe that he is teething already! We are straight up drool central right now, with hands in the mouth and loving gum massages. How can this be...already?

The transition from one to two munchkins has not been as bad as I thought it would be. The only thing that's hard is getting out the door, especially in working around Austin's schedule. But overall, our family dynamic has changed for the better and he is such a little love! How did our family exist without this sweet boy? Only one more week left of school and then I play to fully love on this little boy and his big brother!

Happy three month birthday my sweet boy!!

And in the great debate of Austin looks nothing Andrew, I see SOOOO much similarity, especially at 3 months old. The Wallace genes must run pretty strong.

Andrew's a Big Brother!

Well who would have thought that after two weeks of revealing to you all the name and ultrasound pictures of Austin, our little man would make his debut and make Andrew a big brother! I had told Kyle from the middle of my second trimester that my pregnancy just felt different and that I would be surprised if I carried to the full 4o weeks. Andrew was born right on time...literally, right on time, in typical Courtnie fashion, 3 hours shy of my actual due date. If you followed my blog through my pregnancy and delivery with Andrew, you remember that I was very fortunate to have a rather easy labor and delivery. I feared, that because of this, I was going to have one of those infamous labor stories of "I labored for 36 hours." Somehow, however, I am equally blessed to say that Austin was just as easy...if not easier... (I know mommy friends, I can feel the death glares from here!)

I knew early on in my third trimester that I was not going to make it to my due date. The pain and soreness I felt let me know that my sweet little man was going to make his debut earlier than March 10th.

After an anniversary/Valentine's Day celebration/week, I was pooped! I had promised Kyle for a couple weeks that I would take him to see American Sniper but was fearful that my pregnancy hormones would make me a complete disaster. For Valentine's Day, however, I decided that he could deal with my hot mess, tear-fest and enjoy a date night. While waiting in line for our tickets, I could feel moisture running down my legs. It was warm that day so shoot, maybe it was sweat or heaven forbid, my pregnancy bladder failed me and I just pee'd my pants. Then it hit me! With Andrew, I had leakage 3 days before I delivered. Nothing big but enough to make me go "hmmm." Well wouldn't you know it, 5 days later, my body stayed true to it's labor "is a'comin!" signals.

On Thursday morning, Andrew climbed into bed with me and we enjoyed some sweet morning snuggles and fell back asleep. At 9am, Andrew woke me up to say the sun was awake and it was time to start the day. As I sat up to get out of bed, there was a sensation that was WAY NOT NORMAL in terms of fluid. I stood up to walk to the restroom and the whole way to bathroom, I felt drips. I questioned if it was my water breaking since I envisioned water breaking and having a huge gush of fluid. But being 37 1/2 weeks pregnant, I didn't chance it. I called my doctor and they of course, said it was time to make my way to labor and delivery. So, I called Kyle to let him know that he may want to make his way home. He did not answer! AWESOME!! I received a text message that he was busy and would call later, to which I replied, "well Austin will probably answer!" Wouldn't you know it, my phone rang quite abruptly and Kyle was on his way home. We made it to the hospital around 10:30am (I know it seems like a long time but I wasn't going to rush and panic, plus I needed my chauffeur. Apparently, February 19th was the day of babies as we had to sit in the lobby for quite some time. There were no beds or delivery rooms available. Shoot, I could have had my baby in the lobby...surely that would have been a first!

At 12:00pm I was admitted and sure enough, my water had broke and I was 2cm dilated.  Every hour, I seemed to dilate a cm so I seized the opportunity to get my epidural early...I DO NOT DO PAIN! At 4pm, I was checked again and had dilated to about 5cm. My dad had called to check in and given what seemed like a slow progression, we told him not to rush, get dinner, and come when he could. The plan was for my mom to be present during the delivery and my dad would watch Andrew. At 4:59pm I was checked again and to our surprise, the nurse informed us that she could see the head. It was Go Time!!!

The team of doctors and nurses worked swiftly to change, lights were turned on, and the scene was set. This time around, Kyle remembered to count...all the way...if you remember, with Andrew's birth, he got a little distracted and stopped counting mid push...that's my coach for you! But this time, he was the best partner and coach. After two contractions and two sets of pushes, all of a sudden my sweet little prince was on my chest, belting out a healthy cry and letting the world know he was ready to party.

So if you were wondering what happened with the Andrew and Grammy situation, my dad arrived literally as Austin was born and didn't make it in time to get Andrew out of the delivery room. Both my mom and Andrew were able to witness Austin's birth. It was not our plan but it ended up being the most beautiful gift as Andrew was obsessed with his brother. While in my tummy, Andrew would not leave my side and to know that brother was coming soon, Andrew was not going anywhere. He and my mom were trying to stay by the curtain but Andrew would not have it. He could care less about the blood and just wanted to know why he is baby brother was crying. He handled it like a champ!

So alas, after literally a 5 hour labor, my beautiful boy was born at 5:12pm, weighing in at 6 pounds, 10 ounces and a lengthy 19 1/4 inches long. I am so blessed to be able to say that I had two smooth deliveries. (I can feel the eye rolling from you mama's that did not have such this experience...twice...sorry!)

Austin's birthday, was a popular day as the Rancho Springs Woman's Center was filled with several of our family friends having their babies as well...and early too if you can believe it! It must have been something in the water!

We are proud to announce the arrival of our family's newest addition:
Austin James Wallace

Ladies and Gentlemen, we present to you...

I realize that I have not had many blog posts during my pregnancy with Austin. But I assure you that this one is well worth the wait and will hopefully allow you to forgive me in not upholding my promise to be a better blogger!

Finally, at 36 weeks pregnant, I decided to surprise Kyle for our First Date Anniversary/Valentine's Day to take a peek at our baby boy with a 3D/4D ultrasound session! If you remember with Andrew, he was not willing to pose or show us his face (Peek a boo!) and it took us several visits before we could actually see his whole face. Well, wouldn't you know it, it must run in the Wallace genes or our little man inherited Kyle's strong dislike of pictures but the baby boy kept covering his face with his hand. We were able to watch him smirk, grimace, smile, and squint but the little stinker kept covering his face and mouth with his hand. I wanted to see those sweet little lips that I know I will be smooching on very soon!! After ten minutes of poking and shifting positions, to laying on my side, the ultrasound tech asked us to take a break and we would return after some movement and ice cold water.

After a few minutes, a couple glasses of ice water, and some of Andrew's fruit snacks (okay, those things are good...no wonder he inhales them!) we were excited to see that he had moved his arm. But such a Wallace, as soon as he felt the pressure from the ultrasound wand, he moved his hand back to his face. But not before she was able to capture this sweet little face! YAY!!!

Ladies and gentlemen, we are proud to present to you, Andrew's baby brother...

Austin

Even though he wouldn't move his hand, you can still see his sweet little smile. Must take after his mommy!

It is crazy to think that he will be here in 4 short weeks! Although, I have to be honest when I say that I think he will be here earlier. While I realize every pregnancy is different, Austin is sitting very, VERY LOW and I just feel different. If you have seen me throughout this pregnancy, you know that Austin is all in the belly. I have been told that I am all belly (I know, sorry I have slacked on the belly photos this pregnancy!!)

I could be wrong but already at 6 1/4 pounds and measuring at 37 1/2 weeks, who knows, maybe he will make his debut early!! Only time will tell and we can't wait to introduce him to you! With weekly check ups now scheduled for the remainder of my pregnancy, I hope to have more updates soon! In the meantime, do yourself a favor and scroll back up and love on that sweet little face and smile!
