So it's true, we are on Team Blue!!

We're Pregnant!!
If you know me, you know I am a terrible liar and can't keep a secret if my life depended on it. When I found out I was pregnant, I had just started my Christmas break and Kyle had just gone on shift. Not wanting to tell him over the phone, I had to wait 4...that's right FOUR days, before I could share the news with him in person. And what better time of year to tell him than Christmas time? I had wrapped up 4 presents from JD to Kyle, each containing a piece of the message that read, "Mommy said I am going to be a big brother!" The last box contained the final piece, "be a big brother!", the pregnancy test reading positive, and a firefighter baby bib that I had actually bought when he and I first started dating. How I kept it stashed away for 11 years long, I am not sure but alas, it finally came in handy. By the time, Kyle had opened the last box, he was growing impatient of all the tape and wrapping paper but was quickly overcome with tears and happiness when he saw the last piece of the message. Finally, we were pregnant!

Now came the even harder part, keeping it a secret from family and friends until the time was right! A week later, we had our family Christmas and invited both our families over Christmas dinner. Mind you, I had been out shopping with my mom, visited with friends, and had dinner with family and still managed to keep our big news a secret until Kyle was home and we could share the news together. I am still shocked I kept it a secret.

Our family Christmas was coming to an end and just like in the movie, "A Christmas Story," Kyle pointed out that there were 2 gifts that remained under the Christmas tree from JD to his Grandmas. The looks on there faces were priceless. They were going to be Grandmothers with both family's first grandbaby!! They have already named themselves Gma and are ready for our little one to bless our families!

Hello Second Trimester!!
First trimester came and went and both Kyle and I were relieved that the delicate first trimester was over. Coincidentally, just as my first trimester ended, so did my Christmas break. Keeping the news from family and friends was hard enough, let alone all my students.

I have been so fortunate to have such a wonderful pregnancy! My first trimester was pretty easy, no real sickness, just some nausea, nothing a little saltines and ginger ale couldn't cure. Second trimester has been great! Lots of energy and finally, being able to tell our friends! With all of our appointments going smoothly and ultrasounds confirming normal and healthy growth and development, I couldn't be happier. During one of our first ultrasounds, we were told we were having a girl. We couldn't believe it, especially considering it was so early and this ultrasound was to measure the spinal cord, not determine the gender of our baby. But the technician seemed pretty adamant so we believed her. In our minds, we imagined what our baby would look like, bought baby clothes and bedding, and swatches of paint.

It's a....
We were ready for sugar and spice, until Kyle and I had the idea to get a 3D ultrasound 5 weeks later. So, after being told originally that we were having a girl, you can imagine our surprise when we found out,we are in fact having a boy! It was crystal clear to see that it was indeed a boy! So it's true, we are officially on Team Blue!! Our little man is expected to arrive on August 22nd!
