The Alumni meet Andrew

Two of my former students were thrilled to find out that I was pregnant! I first met these girls when they were in 6th grade and now they are going to be sophomores in high school! Yikes, I am getting old!

Good-bye Second Tri!!

Can I get a woot woot?? It is a very exciting Memorial Day in the Wallace Household as our little man has officially entered the third trimester today! I actually had a moment (have them here and there...I know, I know, SHOCKING!) but it dawned on me that I have 12 weeks left in this pregnancy!! 12 more weeks until we get to meet Andrew! Andrew is now about 2 1/2 pounds and over 14 inches long. Still to date, no cravings but I will say I have noticed that he gives me a little kick and a little jab when I eat watermelon. It is my favorite fruit so perhaps he is taking on mommy's favorite foods already.

We had a very busy week last week between the start of the 8th grade end of the year activities and our school spring production! Andrew is finally starting to make the belly pop and it was by far a hit with my students and their families.

I am still told that I am so tiny for 7 months but I am happy that he is healthy and moving about.

My team of teachers and I hosted an 8th grade luncheon for over 40 students. It was organized chaos but all in all, it was a blast. There was so much food, certainly a pregnant woman's heaven! We played a game of "Guess Who?" where every student had provided their baby pictures and students were to guess who was who. I was rather pleased with myself that I was able to guess most of the students. My families were pretty impressed too that I was able to identify so many of the students. But I suppose that after seeing these students for the last three years, you can't help but feel the mothering instincts of knowing your child. I guess I had an unfair advantage! :) Makes me look forward to watching Andrew grow through photos, photos that capture his growth and remind us of how little we once were.

The end of the year is rapidly approaching. Only 5 more on-site days and this mama-to-be will officially be on summer vacation! Let the countdown begin! Three more months little man...your countdown has begun too! Your family and friends are very eager to meet you!

Come on now, still no crazy cravings??

So next to, "how are you feeling?" the number one question I get asked is, "so have you had any weird cravings yet?" And shockingly, the answer is NO!! No pickles and ice cream! No late night fast food runs...nothing! Believe me, Kyle is certainly doing the happy dance over not having to deal with any pregnancy cravings. But come on now, nothing? Maybe one of these days I will get a hankering for something!

So what does our little guy look like at 26 weeks (6 1/2 months)? Based on the martial arts and judo chops Andrew has going on inside my belly, you'd think he was full grown but believe it or not, he is almost 2 pounds and is about 14 inches long! Long and tall already...just like mommy!

The baby bump is here!

Double Digits Baby!!

So today is a such a big day for our little guy...99 days left! Woo Hoo!! I can't believe how incredibly fast this pregnancy is going. It seems like just yesterday, I was giving Kyle the ultimate Christmas present of telling him he was going to be a daddy and here we are now at 26 weeks pregnant. Where have the last 6 1/2 months gone?

We have been so incredibly busy over the last month and it is surely going to be busier, especially once the baby arrives! The end of my school year is coming quick, less than 4 weeks, but who is counting?? With the end of the year, comes all of the end of the year activities. But I am so proud of this group of 8th graders since I have taught most of them since they were in 6th grade. It is crazy to see how much they have grown and changed over the years. Makes me think about how fast our little man will change before my eyes!

My dear hubby has taken on quite the task of installing wainscoting in the nursery! I am so unbelievably impressed with his levels of perfection and attention to detail. Maybe this is why we butt heads sometimes, two perfectionists living under the same roof!! But in all honesty, the carpentry he has created and the amount of pride I see in his eyes, moves me to tears. Now all we need is a little bit of paint and the nursery will be finished! I promise, pics will be posted once the room is done! I can't wait!

Drum roll please...

So it is with great excitement that we announce the name we have selected for our little man! And the winner is.....

Andrew

After much thought and consideration, we have chosen a name!! When Kyle and I found out we were pregnant, we decided that if we were having a girl, I would be allowed to choose a name and if it were a boy, Kyle could choose the name. So, the moment we saw that our little one was in fact an heir to the Wallace name, Kyle got busy researching names that were of significance to him and his heritage. Turns out, there are several generations of Andrew in the Wallace family tree (and coincidentally, several in the Martin family tree too). But the name skipped generations with his Dad's generation and with Kyle's. Kyle asked how I liked the name and to be honest, being a teacher really puts a damper on selecting names for your baby. Fortunately, I haven't had an Andrew and I actually, believe it or not, do not know any Andrew's personally! So when Kyle asked me what I thought about the name, I was so excited!! Point for Kyle!

We have been going back and forth with "are you sure?," "do you like any other names?," but I knew that as soon as we started signing Mother's Day cards with Kyle, Courtnie, JD, and Andrew as well as telling Kyle to say good bye and give a kiss to Andrew before he left on shift, we had a winner! Now, on to the task of selecting a middle name. Any suggestions??

I can't believe that there is only 3 1/2 months left! Mommy and Daddy can't wait to meet you Andrew!!
